Wollastonite has stable chemical property, the basicity is close to 1. It's an ideal raw material of mold powder. In the early of 1980's, wollastonite has been used to produce mold powder and gradually increased the types. It has been applied in mold casting,continuous casting(plate blank, square billet), synthetic slag, stainless steel, continuous casting etc. Low grade wollastonite is enough to use in mold powder, thus the cost is very low.

The application of wollastonite in metallurgy has new development, such as metallic blackwash, injection refining steel, refractory brick,refractory insulator, ceramic insulation foam etc. Some foreign experts think wollastonite is a kind of excellent insulation material.
